Farmers pursue green energy

The red tape tying up an emerging green industry that may become a new economic backbone for Southwestern Ontario will be examined at a London conference here tomorrow.

The two-day event gives industry and government leaders a chance to discuss how to turn Ontario's agricultural base into its next major sector -- renewable energy.

"I totally agree with regulations. . . but they have to be reasonable," said Dr. Gord Surgeoner of Ontario Agri-Foods Technologies, which helps farmers develop new markets.
