NuCoal Energy Corp.
Former APEGS president Steve Halabura, P.Geo F.E.C. (Hon.) is looking for Saskatchewan’s energy future in an odd place: in its past. Halabura and his business colleagues are working to take Saskatchewan’s oldest and (up until now) dirtiest resource and reinvent it for the 21st century.
Halabura is a director and technical advisor (geoscience and mining) of NuCoal Energy Corp., a Saskatoon-based company aimed at turning Saskatchewan’s lignite coal resource into liquid fuel as part of a polygeneration plant. If they succeed, NuCoal will give a second lease on life to a Saskatchewan industry on the verge of going the way of the dinosaur.
