THEME 4 – Green Energy
Integrates fuel cells, pyrolysis, combustion and biological technologies for heat and power production into sustainable agricultural cycles. Research is related to production of green energy, and more specifically, power and/or heat generation through fuel cell devices, combustion engines, fluidized beds and bioreactors from green fuels (ethanol, bio-oil or hydrogen) by studying:
1) pyrolysis oil from Biomass for heat and power;
2) combustion of biomass in multiple-spouted beds;
3) direct liquid fuel cells for power and/or heat generation from biofuels;
4) simultaneous production of ethanol and electricity using algae growth on carbon dioxide;
5) electrical power and heat production using a Brayton hybrid cycle with agricultural feedstocks.
